What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapists treat and resolve an injured or painful part of the body. Our physios use a range of skills from hands-on treatment to exercise prescription and ensure they have assessed thoroughly to find the underlying cause.
Ā
Types of conditions or injuries someone might see a physio for include:
Ā
Back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, elbow pain, hip pain, knee pain, and foot and ankle pain
Do I need to have a sports injury to attend an appointment?
Absolutely not…. we love variety and enjoy helping those looking to return to a pain-free life, regardless of their goals. You donāt have to be involved in sport to see our team, so please get in touch and we look forward to helping you.
How many times will I have to come to see the physio?
This is a question we get asked a lot…. and itās difficult to say. Everyone is different but we take pride in accelerating your recovery and as a result, hope that you donāt need many sessions.
Ā
Most clients, depending on their condition, require 4-6 sessions but those with slightly more troubling injuries or those attending for post-op physio typically see us over a longer period.
Ā
Once assessed, your physio will be able to explain more about the treatment required but we will always accommodate to your needs and expectations.
How often should I go to see the physio?
We will always suggest gold standard treatment, when looking accelerate results. Most of our clients want to see a change quickly, so we consider this when planning your treatment.
Some clients choose to be seen once or twice per week, to see a change in their pain or injury but if you would prefer, your physio will happily send you away with some exercises to go away and work on independently.
Your journey with us is driven by a collaborative approach. We donāt ask that you commit to a course of treatment with us but do offer courses, if you would like to save some money.
What should I wear to an appointment?
We suggest wearing loose clothing, as your physio will want to assess your movement asĀ part of their examination. Ideally, we need to see the area we are treating, so if it is kneeĀ related, shorts would be preferred.
Ā
Remember, if you would like to bring a friend or family member along to act as a chaperone,Ā please do.
I have health insurance; can I use this to pay for my sessions?
Yes! Our physios are registered on the Private Practice Register, so are able to see you if you are insured. All we ask is that you speak with your insurer before booking and they will issue you with a pre-authorisation code. Any questions please get in touch and the team will help.
Do I need a scan or referral before attending physio?
Not necessarily. Our team are experienced in assessing, diagnosing and treating a range of conditions, so donāt always need a scan to treat a condition or injury successfully. We also donāt require a referral, you can self-refer to use us.
Ā
About 15% of our clients need to go on to see a consultant or specialist and we have good relationships with the local and leading specialists, so may discuss your case with them or if needed, ask that you go for their expert opinion and possible scan to confirm diagnosis.
